This is the part where your design starts to become real. Shyly drawn lines on your design sketch will have to be defined-are these seams? ….darts? …pleats? Is this opening functional? Where should your skirt sit? How shall we finish the seams with this fabric? Which fabric suits this design best still keeping the visual vision/brand identity/price point in mind….
Your design becomes defined and refined here.
Our DESIGN REALISATION Service is where we map out the steps and journey of bringing your design to life. We will give an overview of each step and the decisions which will meet you at every “station” of bringing your design to a final product and will arrive at a technical design sketch which serves as a starting point with defined pointers/material suggestions and trim suggestions which will serve as a starting point to start working with the technical team..
Our PATTERN CUTTING Service will start with your design.
What is a Pattern for a garment and why is it needed?
A pattern is used as a template to cut out fabric that matches the required specifications of your design. A pattern factors in the type of fabric, the intended fit on the wearer, any trims that will be used as well as the finishings.
Pattern making is the process of creating a blueprint of your garment.
A pattern is the actual real scale, disassembled template of your garment and once assembled it will create your garment. (like a puzzle). The pattern is usually made in either your bespoke size, size of your choice or the base size of your collection.
In order to achieve the perfect fit, the pattern will have to be toiled (A toile is a quickly sewn prototype which is usually made from not as precious materials and which visualise the shape / proportions / fit and design details) and fitted.
The pattern will then be amended according to the fit comments. An innovative design development requires usually 2-3 fittings before being able to create a pattern for sampling and production.
Once the fit is perfected on the base pattern, it can then be sized up/down ( graded) into other sizes, and can then be re-produced as often as you wish-just like a blueprint.
Note that one fitting session ( personal or virtual ) and one pattern change is included in your pattern quote.
Along with your pattern you will get a technical sheet ( in english) which will describe the construction of your garment and instructs the tailor / factory on how to assemble the garment.
Please note that once the pattern cutting process has been completed and patterns and technical sheets have been handed over, STUDIOOhaus is not responsible for the execution of your product unless otherwise agreed.
